Born Norma Jeane Mortenson in June 1 1926, Marilyn Monroe was an American actress, model and singer who became Hollywood’s sex symbol. Starring in a number of successful motion pictures during the 1950s and 1960’s. She spent most of her childhood in foster homes, then became a model and a short time afterwards had a contract with Twentieth Century-Fox. Playing in The Asphalt Jungle and All About Eve gave her much success and drew the attention to her.


Marilyn started as a model, then in 1952, she got her first break as the leading role in Don’t Bother to Knock. In 1953, she was the lead in Niagara. Her dumb blonde persona drew much attention in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953), How to Marry a Millionaire (1953), Seven Year Itch (1955) The rest of her career she was typecast. Rest of her life she found it difficult to find work. Her overdose on barbiturates was labeled in the press a suicide.
